Editing Process

The editing process of our music video has been difficult, as none of us would see editing as one of our key strengths when coming to media production. Stuart has taken a lead role in order to edit our music video, however we have all taken turns within the group to contribute.

On our first attempt at editing, we gathered feedback and was told that our music video did not look like a music video, and instead looked more like a sequence and that some of the shots were too slow. So we took this into account and made changes to our music video.

On our second attempt at editing, we got some more feedback and looked to have made a good improvement on our media product. We filmed different flashback sequences and imbedded them in our music video, and included some more performance based camera shots in our music video. This is so it looks more like a music video, being half performance based and half narritive based.

On our third attempt at editing, we got advice and help from a professional director and he gave us ideas in order to improve our video. I think we need to make the video more sharp and a faster tempo, and also cut out some of the stock motion animation as it didn't make much sense.

Editing Techniques We have used in our media video.

In our media video we have used a variety of editing techniques in which we have incorporated in our video.

Green screen: We have used a lot of green screening in our music video, this is so that we can film Hannah and put stuff over the the top of her, this worked in our advantage as it gave us the idea to do something very conceptual.

Stock Motion Animation: We have used stock motion animation in our music video, we have used toys and made them move shot by shot, we had to be very careful when editing this as this could be difficult to film and edit, but we feel that our stock motion animation is good.

Black and White: We have used black and white color, to signify the audience that there are flashback scenes, in our music video. So this illustrates to the audience that there is a story within our music video.
