Target Audience

The target audience is a very important aspect to think about when creating a music video. When creating a music video you have to think about who your target audience is and whether you think your music video will engage the target audience.

I think that the target audience of our music video, is quite easy to classify. Generally we feel that our target audience would predominately be teenagers for various reasons.

Age- Our music video will relate a lot to teenage issues in the modern society of today. 14-24 Would be the predominate age audience we would be hoping to engage. As pregnancy and being lost and confused is seen a common theme in this age audience.

Gender- We feel the predominate gender would be female, as pregnancy can be seen to dominate a female mentality more than it would a males. The worrying of enduring pregnancy and the effects that has rather than just the act of "getting pregnant". We feel females would be more engaged than males because women can relate and identify themselves with the music video. (Uses of gratification theory)

Occupation- We feel that the occupation that our target audience would be predominately students as the theme is teenage pregnancy and finding your place in the world, and these are issues teenagers have to go through and this age range are still generally students in 6th form or university. Also the target audience could be pregnant females or females as it would interest them. However due to the artist we have decided to use, her song target audience would be studetns and young adults, based on lyrics and performance, so we might corss over into the mid 20's age range, due to the song itself.

We feel that the target audience would be close to the bottom of the social demographic ladder as it's about teenagers being pregnant and they don't have a lot of money and support so this relates to the target audience.
